En constante progreso a lo largo del tiempo, se extiende muy r\u00e1pidamente y se integra en muchos dispositivos de nuestra vida cotidiana. S\u00f3lo diez a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, se introdujo Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) con el lanzamiento de la versi\u00f3n 4.0 de la Especificaci\u00f3n B\u00e1sica. Tiene las mismas caracter\u00edsticas que su hermano mayor, pero se diferencia por su baj\u00edsimo consumo de energ\u00eda.   <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Caracter\u00edsticas y funcionamiento de Bluetooth Low Energy<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Bluetooth Low Energy se conoce con muchos nombres: BLE, Bluetooth LE o Smart Bluetooth, su nombre oficial. Fue dise\u00f1ado originalmente por Nokia con el nombre de Wibree antes de ser adoptado definitivamente por el SIG (Grupo de Inter\u00e9s Especial de Bluetooth). Se dise\u00f1\u00f3 con el objetivo principal de mantener el consumo de energ\u00eda lo m\u00e1s bajo posible. Al ofrecer un acceso f\u00e1cil y fiable, BLE es muy valorado por los fabricantes de electr\u00f3nica de consumo, los desarrolladores de aplicaciones m\u00f3viles y los ingenieros. Cada vez es m\u00e1s adecuado para todo lo relacionado con el Internet de las Cosas (IoT), que est\u00e1 experimentando un fuerte crecimiento en la actualidad.    <\/p>\n<h3><strong>Caracter\u00edsticas<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>La mayor ventaja de <strong>Bluetooth Low Energy<\/strong> es sin duda su <strong>bajo consumo de energ\u00eda<\/strong>. Utilizado para la transferencia peri\u00f3dica de peque\u00f1as cantidades de datos a corta distancia, <strong>BLEes<\/strong>f\u00e1cil de desplegar. En general, <strong>BLEconsume<\/strong><strong>la mitad de energ\u00eda que Bluetooth<\/strong>. Por \u00faltimo, su coste sigue siendo relativamente bajo y la longevidad de su bater\u00eda no es desde\u00f1able.   <\/p>\n<h3><strong>C\u00f3mo funciona<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>BLE tiene diferentes tipos de conexiones. Un objeto conectado en BLE puede tener hasta 4 funciones diferentes: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>El &#8220;Emisor&#8221;: puede actuar como servidor. Por tanto, su prop\u00f3sito es transmitir regularmente datos a un dispositivo, pero no acepta ninguna conexi\u00f3n entrante. <\/li>\n<li>&#8220;El Observador&#8221;: En un segundo paso, el objeto s\u00f3lo puede escuchar e interpretar los datos enviados por un &#8220;emisor&#8221;. En esta situaci\u00f3n, el objeto no puede enviar conexiones al servidor. <\/li>\n<li>La &#8220;Central&#8221;: a menudo un smartphone o una tableta. Es un elemento que interact\u00faa de dos formas distintas: en modo publicitario o en modo conectado. Es entonces el l\u00edder y a partir de \u00e9l se inicia el intercambio de datos.  <\/li>\n<li>El &#8220;Perif\u00e9rico&#8221;: acepta conexiones de la central y le env\u00eda datos peri\u00f3dicamente. El Bluetooth cl\u00e1sico se utiliza para procesar, transferir e intercambiar muchos datos sin interrupci\u00f3n (por ejemplo, audio). Sin embargo, consume r\u00e1pidamente la bater\u00eda y cuesta mucho m\u00e1s.  <\/p>\n<p>BLE, en cambio, se utiliza para aplicaciones que no requieren el intercambio de grandes cantidades de datos y, por tanto, recupera informaci\u00f3n relativamente ligera (como la hora o la temperatura, por ejemplo). Al ofrecer una conexi\u00f3n no continua, puede funcionar con bater\u00eda durante varios a\u00f1os a un coste inferior al de Bluetooth. <\/p>\n<h2><strong>Publicidad y modo conectado<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Los dispositivos Bluetooth env\u00edan paquetes para difundir datos: esto es Publicidad. Son bloques de 31 bytes que pueden contener informaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica del emisor. Tambi\u00e9n se utilizan para permitir que otros dispositivos (normalmente esc\u00e1neres) se conecten a ellos. A t\u00edtulo informativo, existen varios tipos de paquetes de Publicidad que permiten, cada uno de ellos, realizar diferentes funcionalidades (se utilizan para Publicidad Directa o Indirecta con o sin posibilidad de conexi\u00f3n).   <\/p>\n<p>En BLE, dos dispositivos pueden establecer una conexi\u00f3n seg\u00fan el principio maestro\/esclavo. \u00c9ste es el modo conectado. En este caso, se suele utilizar el protocolo GATT (acr\u00f3nimo de &#8220;Generic ATTribute&#8221;) para transmitir los datos. Este protocolo define c\u00f3mo dos dispositivos BLE intercambian datos. Utiliza los conceptos de &#8220;servicios y caracter\u00edsticas&#8221; para describir la informaci\u00f3n intercambiada:    <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Un servicio puede contener un conjunto de funciones<\/li>\n<li>Una caracter\u00edstica contiene una descripci\u00f3n, un valor e informaci\u00f3n para definir el valor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>En cuanto a las frecuencias, para Bluetooth 4.2, algunas estar\u00e1n dedicadas a la Publicidad, mientras que otras ser\u00e1n espec\u00edficas del modo conectado.<\/p>\n<p>Bluetooth permite el intercambio bidireccional de datos mediante ondas de radio UHF y funciona en la banda de 2,4 GHz. Se asignan 40 canales f\u00edsicos para la multiplexaci\u00f3n en tiempo y frecuencia, cada uno espaciado a 2 MHz (es decir, de 2,4 GHz a 2,8 GHz). Bluetooth y especialmente <strong>BLEconsumen<\/strong>menos energ\u00eda. Sin embargo, el alcance y la velocidad son mucho menos importantes que para Wi-Fi.  <\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ventajas del BLE<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Cada protocolo tiene sus ventajas e inconvenientes. \u00c9stas son algunas de las principales ventajas de BLE: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Para el usuario: En efecto, procede de un consorcio de gigantes de la industria (IBM, Microsoft, Intel&#8230;), lo que le confiere una adopci\u00f3n y un fuerte cr\u00e9dito de estabilidad econ\u00f3mica. Ya est\u00e1 integrado en todos los smartphones, lo que facilita su uso. <\/li>\n<li>En cuanto a la seguridad: el protocolo permite gestionar varios niveles de seguridad.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Cosas a tener en cuenta<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)<\/strong> es una tecnolog\u00eda adaptada al<strong>entorno<\/strong> industrial, ya que permite el intercambio r\u00e1pido de informaci\u00f3n que puede consumir mucha energ\u00eda, como la temperatura, la humedad o el movimiento.
