Temperature traceability in isothermal boxes
Integrate ELA Innovation temperature sensors into your isothermal boxes for cold chain traceability.
What does temperature monitoring of isothermal boxes involve?
In a context of ever-increasing regulatory requirements, customer quality expectations and economic pressure, temperature monitoring inside isothermal boxes is becoming a strategic issue for the entire cold chain. Used to transport sensitive products (vaccines, medical devices, biological samples, perishables, etc.), these packaging solutions require rigorous thermal monitoring at every stage, from packaging to delivery.
According to Power For All [1], the WHO estimates that nearly 50% of freeze-dried vaccines and 25% of liquid vaccines are wasted, mainly due to disruptions in the cold chain. A poorly controlled temperature, even over a short period of time, can lead to a loss of product integrity, regulatory non-compliance and therefore significant financial and environmental costs (returns, destruction, wastage, loss of customer confidence, etc.).
By integrating a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) temperature sensor into an isothermal box, you provide your customers with reliable, traceable data that can be consulted at any time, whether to optimize logistics, secure deliveries or meet your customers’ quality audits.

How does temperature monitoring work in isothermal boxes?
The entire temperature monitoring system for isothermal boxes involves key requirements: reliability of measurements, simplicity of installation and integration into existing IoT architecture.
ELA Innovation’s Blue PUCK T EN12830 sensor has been specifically designed to meet these requirements. It installs directly in the isothermal container, without any cables. Thanks to its Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity, it measures the temperature at regular intervals and records each datum in its internal memory (datalogger function).
When the box is in close proximity to a BLE-compatible on-board telematics box, data is automatically transmitted via Bluetooth. The box then relays the information via the cellular network to your IoT platform, where it can be viewed in real time.
In the event of a temperature deviation, an instant alert can be sent to the driver or logistics manager.
“The integration of ELA sensors into our IoT platform for the cold chain brings innovation to the market. It guarantees product integrity for the customer, end-to-end, with clear indication and localization of temperature anomalies in real time.”
Why integrate ELA Innovation temperature sensors into your telematics solution?
Tested and approved to EN12830:2018, this sensor provides accurate temperature measurement in compliance with European standards for the transport and storage of heat-sensitive products. ELA Innovation also offers a calibration service in compliance with EN 13486 for periodic sensor verification, carried out by an external organization accredited by COFRAC ISO 17025.
Thanks to its exceptional autonomy and Bluetooth Low Energy technology, this system offers economical, maintenance-free operation:
100% autonomous
Their battery-powered operation provides up to 18 years of autonomy, guaranteeing a competitive total cost of ownership.
Certified EN12830 - 2018
The sensors are COFRAC-certified (EN12830:2018), attesting to their accuracy and calibration to standards that comply with regulations. This certification is valid internationally, as the COFRAC organization is affiliated to ILAC.
ELA Innovation also offers a calibration service for temperature sensors, to guarantee reliable data throughout the product’s life.
Wide measurement range and real-time data
With a measuring range from -40°C to +85°C and a configurable emission period, these sensors can cover all the main applications for transporting temperature-sensitive goods, transmitting the recorded data in real time.
Compatible with telematics boxes
Based on Bluetooth Low Energy technology, these sensors are compatible with the majority of on-board telematics units on the market, requiring no additional integration.
Quick and easy installation
Ultra-simple to install thanks to a range of mounting options (high-performance double-sided stickers or screw-on brackets), these sensors can be mounted on any type of surface and require no wiring.
