IT equipment tracking
Integrate ELA Innovation equipment tracking beacons into your solutions.
What is IT equipment tracking?
In the context of the fourth industrial revolution, IT equipment tracking is emerging as a key element in the digital transformation of businesses.
This trend can be explained in particular by the substantial investment in office technology equipment, which costs between 500 and 5,000 dollars per employee per year. Faced with these financial challenges, companies are looking to optimise the use and maintenance of their IT assets through more accurate and efficient tracking solutions.
The growing adoption of the IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) bears witness to its strategic importance. This is prompting companies to explore advanced solutions for indoor monitoring. Today, 59% of companies use the IoT for monitoring and maintenance. The global market for IIoT platforms is expected to reach 13.7 billion by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 14.8%.
How does BLE IT equipment tracking work?
From a technical point of view, indoor tracking of IT equipment and people is based on BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology. This system works transparently across the existing network, with pre-existing WIFI access points acting as gateways. These access points are able to scan and read Bluetooth beacons, which in turn provide location data.
Bluetooth tracking beacons are attached to IT equipment or behind the badge holder, enabling access to be controlled, while WIFI access points act as gateways for data transmission.
BLE technology calculates positioning information based on the strength of the signal (RSSI) emitted by the mobile beacons, which is then efficiently relayed by the existing network infrastructure. This data is then processed to determine GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) and seamlessly integrated into a commercial platform.
This platform allows users to view the positioning of IT equipment and people in the office on a floor plan or map. In addition, users can access comprehensive dashboards for tracking and managing assets.
The benefits of tracking IT equipment in the IIoT

Why integrate ELA Innovation location beacons into your indoor tracking solution?
ELA Innovation’s location beacons are ideal for IT equipment tracking for a number of reasons:
Reliability and increased precision
100% autonomous beacons offering indoor localisation to within 5 to 10 metres.
Easy integration with existing systems
Bluetooth is an open standard protocol that is interoperable with other technologies (WIFI or Ethernet). BLE beacons can be easily integrated into existing networks.
Optimised energy consumption
Thanks to the use of BLE (Bluetooth low energy) technology
Compatible with all major access controllers
These same beacons can be used as staff badges.
